On August 21st, 2017 Oregon will be experiencing a total eclipse of the sun. This event is predicted to bring as many as 1 MILLION visitors to Oregon for the event. The path of the "totality" focuses on mostly small, quiet, rural communities which will likely be inundated with tourists for the event.
There are some safety concerns when viewing an eclipse, and even here in Umatilla where we won't be in the totality, smart viewing still needs to be observed. The Oregon State Fire Marshal's Office has put out a helpful flier to keep you safe in your viewing. You can download a copy by clicking here

about the best places to view the eclipse and safe ways to view it.
